Was ist 5-HTP?

Die Blätter der Griffonia simplicifolia haben einen hohen Proteingehalt und enthalten Phosphor und Kalzium sowie ein flüchtiges Öl, Cumarine und 5-HTP und 5-Hydroxytryptamin. Die reifen Samen enthalten so viel wie 20% 5-HTP und Lektine von Interesse an Krebs und neurologischen Forschung. Für die Quantifizierung von 5-HTP wurden hochleistungsfähige Flüssigchromatographie- (HPLC-) Assayverfahren beschrieben.
